The Boosting Female Founders Initiative (BFFI) aims to assist female founders of startups launch and expand into domestic and global markets. Grants between $25,000 and $480,000 will be awarded each year over three years. The intended outcomes of the program are:
- increased number of startups founded by women
- new products and services are brought to market by startups founded by women
- increased financial investment in startups founded by women
- women improve their earning potential through entrepreneurship
- increased job creation and economic growth.

What does it do?
The BFFI provides successful applicants with funds to help grow their business. These funds can be used for eligible project expenses such as wages, contractors, training, technology, and travel (subject to guidelines). The grant amount will typically be 50% of the cost of your project, but can reach 70%.

Who can apply?
To be eligible you must:
- be a female founded (majority owned and led by women) startup
- have an Australian Business Number (
- be registered for the Goods and Services Tax (GST)
- Most Australian entities are eligible.
